Björn and Damien (PAVANE) met in Rennes in 2020, where they had just moved. A fertile exchange around music, harmony and synthesiser started instantly. After composing the piano piece "les enfants sauvages" and its remix, they decided to try their hand at a collaboration based around the "open and nomadic" piano combined with modular synthesizers. They created a space for improvisation and explored new ways of conceiving songs. They plugged contact microphones onto Björn's small piano to increase their range of play: the instrument became a body more sensitive to scraping, caressing and percussion. The modular synth transforms the sounds coming from these microphones, samples them, and accompanies the whole thing with layers, melodies and well-rounded basses. Their music is a journey, inspired by the seascapes in front of which Björn settles down to play, and by the cosmic delirium evoked by Damien's modules.
